Log with Siri

No setup needed. Once Protocol is on your iPhone, Siri knows these phrases. Water logs without even opening the app.

Three things to say

  1. 1

Log water without opening the app

Say “Hey Siri, log water in Protocol.” Siri asks How many ounces? Say a number, and Siri logs it and tells you your total for today.

Protocol never opens, so it works from the Lock Screen, in the car or mid-workout.

  2. 2

    Say what you ate

Say “Log my lunch in Protocol”, or breakfast, dinner or snack. Siri asks What did you eat? Say it the way you'd tell a friend.

Protocol opens with your words filled in and the meal set. Tap Estimate this meal, check the numbers, and tap Log meal.

  3. 3

    Ask your coach

Say “Ask my coach in Protocol.” Siri asks for your question. Coach opens and sends it, so the answer is waiting when you look.

Not sure what to ask? Here's what your coach can do.

Tips

Siri doesn't recognize the phrase

Open Protocol once after installing or updating, so iPhone learns its phrases. Then in Settings, open Siri (Apple Intelligence & Siri on newer iPhones), tap Apps, then Protocol, and check Siri is allowed.

See them all in Shortcuts

Open the Shortcuts app and tap Protocol to see every shortcut. You can run them from there, or add them to the Home Screen.

Rather press than talk?

Put Log a Workout on the Action button, or any of these shortcuts. Set up one-press logging.

Train phrases

Workout, cardio and reps phrases need the Train beta, which is invite-only right now.
