Getting started
Who it is for, how a day works, and what you need to begin.
People who already have the stack. You own an Oura ring, WHOOP, or Apple Watch, and you actually use it. You may have pasted your health stats into ChatGPT just to get a real recommendation. You're not looking for motivation, you're looking for a system that ties it all together and tells you the truth every day. It also works for people rebuilding their health around a condition or a GLP-1, and for everyday athletes who want their training, food and recovery read together.
Connect your sources in about two minutes: Oura, WHOOP, and Apple Health. Protocol reads them together against your own baselines, and each morning you get one brief with one clear call for the day. Your day lives in three rings: Move, Fuel and Recover. In between, ask the coach anything; it answers from your history, not a generic playbook. Then the loop closes: every goal gets an honest verdict (hit, almost, miss), your streak remembers, and tomorrow starts from what you actually did.
It's the best way to live with Protocol: the morning brief notification, rings, coach, trends, and streaks all in your pocket, with native Apple Health sync, widgets and Siri. It's also the fastest way to log meals: snap a photo, say it, or scan a barcode and the macros land in your Fuel ring. There's a full web app too, so you can start free in the browser and add the app whenever.
Not yet. Protocol is on iPhone and the web. On Android, use the web app at stayonprotocol.com in your browser: Oura and WHOOP connect from Settings and sync on their own, and you can log meals, set goals and talk to the coach there. Apple Health needs the iPhone app.
No. Protocol is one system, but you decide what leads. Put the parts you use most in your tab bar, in your order, and star the one it opens to: Meals if nutrition is your focus, Train if you lift (Train is in an invite-only beta for Pro members), Coach or Today if you want the big picture first. Everything else stays one tap away under More, and Protocol still reads it all together, so your sleep still shapes today's training call and your training still shapes your food targets.
One source is enough to start. Apple Health alone covers sleep, steps, and workouts. Every source you add sharpens the read, because the value is in the signals together.
Devices & data
Connecting your ring, strap, watch and scale, and how they fit together.
In the iPhone app, tap More, then Connections, and tap Connect next to each one. Apple Health asks which data to share; Oura and WHOOP ask you to sign in and allow access. Protocol pulls in up to a year of history, so your baselines are ready on day one.
No, and connecting everything is the point. Every metric has one source of truth: Protocol ranks your sources per metric (your ring leads on sleep and recovery, your watch on movement), so a night tracked by three devices still counts once. For steps and active calories, the highest complete count wins. If you'd rather hear from a specific device, pick a preferred source per metric under Data sources in Settings.
Anything that writes to Apple Health reaches Protocol on iPhone. Turn on Apple Health sharing in Garmin Connect and your activity and workouts come through; most smart scales do the same for weight and body fat. Direct connections depend on each company opening its developer access. You can ask for one in the app: More, then Connections, then Request an integration.
Keep them, they're great sensors. But each one only reasons inside its own walls: a strap can't see your ring, your watch workouts, or the rest of your stack, and every app that adds its own logging just hands you one more score to reconcile. Apple Health has the opposite problem: it collects everything and has an opinion about nothing. Protocol is the decision layer on top. It reads WHOOP, Apple Health, and Oura together against your baselines and turns all of it into one clear call for the day, plus a coach you can ask about any number. Your devices measure. Protocol decides.
Logging
Meals, water, weight, workouts and lab results.
Tap the + button and choose Log a meal. Say or type what you ate, snap a photo of your plate, a label or a menu, or scan a barcode, and Protocol estimates the macros for you to check. Foods you eat often are one tap from Quick add. On the free plan you get 5 AI meal estimates a day; search, barcodes and saved meals are always unlimited, and Pro removes the cap.
Yes. Tap + for Log water or Log weight, and add your supplements once on the Supplements card on Today, then check them off each day. A smart scale that writes to Apple Health logs your weight for you.
Yes. Workouts from Apple Health, WHOOP and Oura come in on their own and count once toward your weekly goal, even when two devices recorded the same session. Want to log sets and lifts? Train is in an invite-only beta for Pro members on iPhone and the web.
Yes. Upload any lab report as a PDF, or a few screenshots, and Protocol pulls out every biomarker, flags what is out of range and explains it in plain language. Your first draw is free; Pro tracks every draw after that so you can see each marker change over time.
The coach
What it reads, what it won't do, and how it talks to you.
Everything you've connected, all at once: last night's sleep, this morning's HRV, your training load, your meals, your labs, and months of your own baselines. You never paste in context or re-explain yourself. It answers with your numbers, remembers what you're working toward, and follows up like someone in your corner. It can log meals for you and knows how every part of the app works. The coach is part of Pro.
No. The coach is for everyday health habits: sleep, training, nutrition, recovery and stress. It doesn't diagnose, and it never tells you to start, stop or change a medication. If you have a condition or take a GLP-1, it coaches the habits around your care and tells you when something is worth raising with your doctor. For anything urgent, it points you to emergency help first.
No. Accountability here feels like a coach in your corner, not a scold. The verdicts are honest, and there's an 'almost' between hit and miss for a reason. Streaks celebrate rather than shame. When a day goes sideways, tomorrow's brief starts from where you actually are and gives you the next move. And you choose every reminder: switch each one on or off and set its time.
Pricing, privacy & account
What it costs, what happens to your data, and managing your account.
Free to start, no credit card. Your data syncs free, along with your rings, goals, streaks and a daily allowance of AI meal logging. Protocol Pro is $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year ($8.33 a month) and adds the coach, unlimited AI meal logging, daily metric insights and your full brief every day.
It depends on where you joined. Joined in the iPhone app: tap More, then You, then Manage subscription; Apple handles the change or cancellation. Joined on the web: open Settings at stayonprotocol.com and click Manage billing. Either way Pro works in the app and on the web.
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, and device connections use OAuth with read-only access, so Protocol never sees your device account passwords. Your data is never used to train models and never sold, and Protocol is explicit about what it reads and why. You can disconnect any source, or delete your account and its data, at any time.
In the iPhone app, tap More, then You, then Delete account at the bottom, and confirm. It permanently deletes your account, synced health data, goals and coach history. Deleting doesn't cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel that first. You can also email hello@stayonprotocol.com from your account's address and we'll do it for you.
Start with the help center: short step-by-step guides with pictures of every screen. You can also ask your coach how to do something in the app; it knows every guide. Still stuck? Send us a message from Support or from Help in the app's More tab. We reply to every one, usually within a business day.
